April 4 - April 7th: Bill attended the Insurance Marketing Organization (IMO) meeting for Shenandoah Life at Greensboro, NC. Only, the top 30 IMO's were invited.  Some exciting new additions coming from Shenandoah Life.  We'll share these in our newsletter &  meetings.

Jan 30:  Willie wrote another Golden Promise.  Keep it up!  Note under Training above I added a linc to Jim Rohn's and Zig Ziglar's web sites where you can order materials that will lead you to a better life.  In the Agent Info section I added a linc to Adobe Reader which will allow you to download software to print (.pdf) files, which are used to transmit proposals and forms over the internet.  Shenandoah's software allows us to save proposals in pdf files and then they can be attached to emails.  This is a very quick way for us to send proposals.

December 21:  Shenandoah's Golden Promise (final expense) adds Nursing Home Waiver of premium.  Altis I UL: More Money to YOU!  What does a lump sum/roll over deposit do for my client?  It creates what your client wants - a flexible premium policy.  Instead of pushing the panic button, your client can skip premiums if needed.  The extra cash will be earning top rates from day one and increase the long term cash.  The big plus is when he/she calls and says, "I can't pay my premium."  You can say, "Great news you can just skip for a year then pick up the premiums!"  You'll be a hero - it will happen!

December 12.      Universal Life:  You Gotta Understand the Premiums!
The four basic premiums of a UL policy are Guideline, Target, Planned, and Minimum.  Guideline is the maximum you can put in year one.  Target is the amount the agent will be paid full commission on in the first year.  Planned is the amount your client plans to pay.  Minimum is the amount the company requires to put the policy in force.  To max your earnings you must understand the target premium or commissionable premium of every sale.  Sample target premiums are for a 35 male non-smoker:  Ohio Natl = $5.64; GE=$6.22; LBL=$8.64 & Shenandoah=$11.50.  Where will you make the most money?
       Sell a $100,000 UL to a 35 male non-smoker with Shenandoah and you'll find the Guideline = $1286; Target = $1150; Planned = $456; Minimum=$651 the first 5 years.      
       $651 x 5 years = $3,250 = required over first 5 years.
       $456 x 5 years = $2,280 = planned premium will contribute in the 5 years
                                  $   930 = amount we need to collect year 1 to be able to pay $456 or
                                                 $38/month to fund the policy from issue date.
So collect $930 from an old policy or a lump sum deposit and your client can pay $38 a month for life for the $100,000 policy.  What have you done?  Your client now has tremendous flexibility and you will have collected $930 + $456 = $1,386 the first year.  You will be paid full commission on $1,150 and the balance will be paid on too as excess premium.  So 75% commission pays you $863 with Shenandoah, but your client is paying only $38 a month or $456 a year (75% base=189%). Wow!!  Based on their target  premiums, you'd have to earn base of 153% with Ohio Natl, 139% with GE and over 100% with LBL to put the same money in your pocket.    Fact:  Percentage commission (%) is not the factor to be concerned with - Target or Commissionable Premium is the magic number, if you are a good salesperson.  Also, some companies quit paying you after a few years - Shenandoah pays you for the life of the policy. YOU, the agent, and your client are winners!!
